About the Role

We're looking for hands-on Sub Assembly Technicians to build the mechanical and electrical subassemblies that support Goshen's products and production operations. You'll work from production orders, drawings, bills of material, and work instructions to prepare, fit, assemble, inspect, and document quality work. This position offers a clear progression from foundational assembly work through more complex assignments, troubleshooting, peer support, and working-lead responsibilities based on demonstrated proficiency.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare, fit, assemble, fasten, and install mechanical and electrical subassembly components according to approved requirements and production processes.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, fixtures, and other production equipment safely and accurately.
  • Perform layout, measuring, drilling, tapping, cutting, fastening, riveting, fitting, adjustment, and related assembly tasks as required.
  • Inspect completed work for fit, alignment, dimensions, component installation, hardware, workmanship, cleanliness, and other quality requirements.
  • Identify and communicate missing, damaged, incorrect, or nonconforming materials, components, drawings, or work instructions.
  • Complete required quality checks, production records, work orders, checklists, and other documentation accurately.
  • Coordinate with Sub Assembly, Electrical Assembly, Control Wiring, Quality, Materials, Engineering, and other functions to resolve production questions and technical issues.
  • Perform approved rework, corrections, and adjustments needed to bring subassemblies into conformance.
  • Maintain an organized work area and support safe work practices, housekeeping, productivity, quality, and efficient use of materials, tools, and equipment.
  • At higher levels, troubleshoot more complex assembly, tooling, documentation, and workflow issues and assist with training less-experienced technicians.
  • At the Lead level, help coordinate daily work and priorities, support workflow, answer routine technical questions, and assist with training and onboarding while remaining a hands-on technician.
  • Support continuous improvement, process standardization, lean manufacturing, safety, quality, and production performance.

What You'll Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints, assembly drawings, bills of material, work instructions, and other production documentation.
  • Ability to safely and accurately use hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, fixtures, and other equipment required for assigned work.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical assembly, component identification, fit, alignment, fastening, and workmanship requirements appropriate to the assigned level.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality, accuracy, productivity, and safe work practices.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with supervisors, engineers, quality personnel, materials personnel, and other production employees.
  • Ability to learn new products, subassembly methods, tools, equipment, and production requirements and work with increasing independence as proficiency develops.
  • Ability to work in an active manufacturing environment and follow applicable safety and PPE requirements; additional hours, weekend work, or travel to customer sites may be required based on business needs.
  • Preferred: previous manufacturing, subassembly, mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, fabrication, or related production experience.
  • Preferred: experience working from detailed drawings, bills of material, work instructions, or other technical production documents.
